Joliette – I had fun – Review

November 1, 2010

Bonjour mes amis!

It seems like my life has taken an interesting turn to Joliette, QC. The capital of traditional Quebecois music!!!

I found Joliette to be very… enchanting. Castles, bakeries, and music and more! I would describe my trip to Joliette to be a very pretty experience.

Interesting tid bit: They  have this thing in October where all stores write proverbs on their displays…

She hated ‘green’

October 31, 2010

Okay, so there’s this coworker I had who always spoke openly about hating ‘green’. She refused to recycle, and detested products that had green marketing. And despised bike paths!
To her, being ‘green’ was some sort of trend statement that went with granola bars and yoga mats.
I’m open to opinions, but being green shouldn’t be viewed as a preference.
That’s all.

Guess who I met the week after? Justin Trudeau!

October 17, 2010

Hello folks,

As the season couldn’t get any more interesting, I ran into Justin Trudeau a few days ago!

So here is the story (if you must know):

I made a casual appearance to the “Sounds of Democracy” hosted by Apathy is Boring in Montreal and there was le Monsieur in his jeans, Justin Trudeau.

He spoke off script about making differences. I heard the story before, but his delivery made it cool. He isn’t in my riding, nor is he my first choice for political parties, but I’m very glad there are cool guys like him in politics.

Guess who I met later on that night?

October 9, 2010

Literally a few minutes after I meet Jack Layton, I stumbled into Dora Keogh’s and saw Luba Goy from Royal Canadian Air Farce.

There was some altercation at the bar and she wasn’t having any of it. As she was walking out, I stopped her.

“Whose bothering you? I’ll take care of them!”

“Those people!”

“Well, can you at least stay for a picture?”

And she did! Horrah! She even gave me that crown she had been wearing in that picture.

I then asked her if I could be in any of the sketches on Air Farce. Then it occured to me that the show had been cancelled for a while now. But I’m sure she could hook me up with some TV comedy role…

Guess who I met?

October 9, 2010

On my way to Dora’s on the Danforth, my friend Stef points Jack Layton out for me. I hurried across the street and cheered, “JACK!”

He was in an in depth discussion with someone, and it totally didn’t occur to me that public figures were people who do people things. So I stepped back and patiently waited until he was done. I kinda felt a bit invasive, but how often do you get to meet Jack Layton?

Then it occured to me that the Danforth is his riding, so a Layton sighting shouldn’t have been all that shocking. And I did meet him once a few years ago when I volunteered for the NDP.

But he’s such a cool guy, and I felt like saying hi.

Afterwards he came up to me all smiles and struck up a conversation. I proposed a really cool digital marketing idea for the NDP that I’ve had in mind for quite a while (that I won’t disclose yet), and Jack gave me his business card. I must also add here that his card is in brail. Now I’m tempted to get one of those for myself.
