Sewing more skirts!

July 26, 2015

Now that my new place has been set up, I can finally sew! My Mom came over this weekend, and it seemed like a fun activity to do.

It’s been a year and a half since I made anything. I made two skirts in one weekend!

Sewing at home

Looks fun! This is really really hard on the back though. Get two hours of stretching and massages for every one hour spent at the machine.

My Indoor Garden

July 26, 2015

Check out my special indoor garden! Wheatgrass and salads!

Wheatgrass indoors

This is wheatgrass. I used Krema yogurt containers for the pot.

Wheatgrass juiced

After juicing it, I put it in a wine glass so it can appear to taste better. (Its challenging to drink).

Cress grows really great in these hummus containers!

Losers in cars.

June 18, 2015

I have the right to do groceries anytime I want, in any attire I want! Alone! I shouldn’t have the slightest discomfort or fear at this very normal activity and I will tear up anybody who will try to ruin this for me or for any woman!

This evening, at around 9:20 pm, I went out to do grocery shopping. It’s almost summer, so I wore a rather short dress because I love the feeling of the air.

As I was walking, some idiotic goons drove pass by me and were hollering loudly and very obnoxiously. Then they stopped at the red light. Of course I ran up to that red light and gave them a good yelling. “Why were you hollering? What the hell is your problem? What were you thinking? You are disgusting!”

Then these idiots continued to objectify me and MAN-ipulate me, “We weren’t hollering at you! You aren’t even all that. You’re crazy.”

I immediately said, “That’s not what this is about! You were yelling! You are disgusting! You’re idiots! Get some respect” etc.

As if heckling is appropriate to do to a woman of your physical liking! As if I care what losers in a car think about my appearance! As if women in public are objects for your dumb opinions! As if women can be easily manipulated to believe in something that didn’t happen in reality. I’m a 29 year old urban female, and I know a hollering from anywhere! Four grown men in a car making sexist remarks, with the windows already down, and your trying to convince me I didn’t hear any jeering?

They probably weren’t expecting someone to fight back, so they said anything stupid, like commenting on my body. And I continued to be grounded in logic and reality, I continued to let them know they are sexist low lives, and my appearance is none of their business. I used a tone to make them feel very ashamed! Enough for them to ruin their evening. I know this is one of my talents, and I put it to good use.

This experience will sit with them for the rest of the evening, and they will probably be all macho and convince each other that I was crazy, I am aware of that, but I know they will always associate this experience with my yelling next time they try to holler at another woman. And if they have any nuerons, I might have made them realize they are in fact disgusting, and maybe will change.

And I know for some of you that may be reading this may think that what I did was crazy, and I should have let it go, but how many more years do I let this obnoxious behaviour go? Why is it normal to be such a pushover? Feminism can’t win with just joining Facebook pages, reading academic blogs, and attending ‘safe space’ events. And I refuse to live in fear or any slut-shaming! Covering women to prevent men from harassing them is the same logic that is used in Iran and I will NOT tolerate it in this country.

Spring 2015 so far

April 4, 2015

Here are some observations narrated by my smart phone:

Concordia Greenhouse

Concordia Greenhouse – Where have you been all my life?

Sick Aloe Vera plant

Decided to get an Aloe Vera plant to ‘clean’ my air. But I think it wasn’t up for the challenge because it was about to die. I gave it to my boyfriend to take care of. I’m glad to say it’s doing a lot better. I have since turned on my air purifier and cleaned my house like crazy.

How to use a public washroom

This should be a sign on all washrooms around the world. Where is the start up for this? Anyway, this made me laugh.

Bike Counter Montreal

Amazing! A bike counter! So many cyclists everyday making a difference, and now we can see the tangible results. I found this in front of metro Laurier.

I love these repurposed dish detergent bottles!

You can also repurpose your own bottle and get a refill on high end organic goods like balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar, oils, and soaps! This was found at Bio Vert in the Mile End.

Another day – Average day is like…

March 23, 2015

Dear diary,

1. Today I watched a few videos on lynda about design. I learned about “Texture hunting”.

2. Then I went to the gym. I complained to a staff member about the easy listening ballad music playing. Being played consecutively! Okay I like “Take me to Church” by Hozier, but not while I’m on a treadmill! And no, I won’t be wearing ear buds because I don’t want a bulky device attached to my body with noise being drilled into my ear drums, which is harmful for the ears, and harmful as a musician! So they turned off the music entirely. Good. Nothing like working out to my vivid imagination!

3. Then I did some groceries,

4. cleaned a bit,

5. and played music.

6. I talked to my uncle on the phone.

7. Then I had ice cream.

8. Oh I read the news too, I learned a new funny phrase, “purple prose”. Referring to Dellen Millard, the guy accused of killing strangers and even his own father. “… a man with a flair for purple prose and expensive taste in clothes”

What a waste. The money and good looks and IQ all went to his head and ruined his EQ (emotional intelligence). And now he has “jailhouse groupies”? He sincerely believes he is innocent, and he is hoping for some breakthrough to prove him so. The journalist of this article nails it right, “The words are those of someone who is simultaneously manipulative and naive.”

I know this type very well. I went out with a guy who had a similar profile, and he is now sitting in jail.

9. Oh, also, I discovered something called Circuit Bending, turning old recycled junk like kid’s toys into cool synths! Someone please buy me / make me this!
