“We’re damaged people / Drawn together / By subtleties that we are not aware of”
I love this song, I love the melody, I love its accidentals, and I love the chords. Genius song. I’m glad it exists so I could sing it.
Here’s an acoustic version of my favourite song of 2014. Even when all the electronics are stripped down, the melody still holds!
I’ve been listening and hunting for new music almost everyday this year! There were a lot of cool songs I found, these were the ones that stood out:
#5 – Rien A Paris – Liz & László
#4 – Satellites – EMA
#3 – Ciel est noir – Les Passagers
#2 – Malachite – Lydia Ainsworth
This song takes you on a fantasy journey, with beats. Ainsworth scores for film, that may have had an effect. Bonus: I can really appreciate a woman who composes her own music!
#1 – Capitol – Trust.
I love all the songs on this album (Joyland)! But Capitol STANDS OUT! What was going through his mind when he made this? I love love the creative touch of the Canadian loon at the end.

* Special note:
My favourite band is still Austra, they released an EP this year. But I am not putting them on my list. I can’t worship all their releases. Their EP had four experimental instrumental songs, and one pop song, that had creepy lyrics accompanied by a creepy music video.
