Shirin Delsooz is a Persian-Canadian musician based in Montreal whose influences range from alternative to traditional music. She enjoys singing, playing the mandolin, violin and guitar.
After getting a B.A. in Communication Studies from Concordia University, she had more space to explore music. She increased her repertoire in traditional music and played actively at Irish and Quebecois sessions.
Shirin is a musician with no shortage of eccentricities. Since 2007, she has adamantly refused to wear pants, opting for the freedom that comes with skirts. As a teenager she discovered she had a natural ability to write backwards like Leonardo Da Vinci. She is left-handed. However, she plays instruments right-handed.
Her main method of transportation is a Peugeot bicycle or if the weather demands it- public transit.
Loved ones are concerned with her addiction to chocolate as it can be quite costly and unhealthy at her rate of consumption (Cadbury, Haagen Dazs, Lindtt every week- contingent upon stress and budget levels)
She’s not really big on having a wallet or carrying a purse. “Having the mobility and freedom to wave your arms in the air like you just don’t care shouldn’t be limited to just men and airplanes! Why should I bog myself down with a brick on my shoulder when all I need on me is a visa , a 20 and a few bus tickets that can easily fit into my pocket?”
One of her most memorable moment came to her in a dream. In this dream, she realized she was dreaming, and she realized she had full control of the circumstances around her, being completed liberated. She decided that her life ought to be lived in the same manner and calls it ‘lucidly living’.
